By cultivating a welcoming and inclusive shopping environment, Good Foods Co-op ensures that customers from all backgrounds feel valued and connected to the food they purchase and consume. The co-op's model not only benefits consumers but also empowers producers and strengthens local economies, making it a cornerstone of sustainable food practices in the region.
The Deli Production Manager role at Good Foods Co-op is a full-time position designed for individuals passionate about food production, team leadership, and delivering high-quality prepared meals and café offerings. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily production operations within the Kitchen and Café departments to ensure exceptional product quality, operational efficiency, and outstanding customer service. As a key leadership figure, the Deli Production Manager will manage kitchen, café, and dishwasher staff, coordinate food production schedules, assist in hiring and training employees, and uphold the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.
This role thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where strong organizational and communication skills are essential. The manager will monitor department performance metrics such as sales, labor, food costs, and production efficiency, while also supporting merchandising efforts and maintaining product quality and presentation. Collaboration with the Prepared Foods Manager is pivotal for continuous operational improvements and staffing optimization. The Deli Production Manager embodies a positive leadership style focused on coaching, accountability, and fostering a cohesive team culture that aligns with cooperative values.
Working at Good Foods Co-op means becoming part of a community that values collaboration, accountability, and shared success. The company's Prepared Foods team is central to creating fresh, sustainable meals that highlight local ingredients, encouraging both environmental responsibility and health-conscious consumer choices. Employees benefit from a dynamic and collaborative workplace, where growth and leadership development are encouraged. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, with full-time employees becoming eligible for comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance after 90 days of employment. Additionally, the co-op offers a 401(k) plan with employer match after one year, paid vacation time, and store discounts, all designed to support employee well-being and satisfaction.
The physical and work environment of this role includes a fast-paced kitchen, café, retail, and backroom setting, requiring regular physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with kitchen equipment and machinery. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and shared workspaces also characterizes the daily experience. Good Foods Co-op is committed to equal opportunity employment and does not discriminate based on gender, race, age, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected class.
