Job Requirements
- Attained at least 18 years of age
- if age 16-17 cannot operate any equipment such as slicer or buffalo chopper
- able to occasionally stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 to 80 pounds
- manual dexterity
- auditory and visual skills
- ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
- ability to do simple math problems
- able to work within a deli/kitchen environment exposed to heat, steam, fire and noise
- able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous prep cook experience preferred
- ability to follow recipes and measurements accurately
- strong attention to detail
- ability to work independently and productively
- effective communication skills
- teamwork-oriented mindset
Job Duties
- Plan and prepare the department's needs
- set-up, organize, and prepare food using established production procedures and systems
- comply with sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards
- keep the work area clean
- observe proper food handling techniques
- assist line cooks when needed
- assist deli department when needed
- store food properly and safely
- mark the date and item
