Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- 1-2 years grocery retail experience preferred
- ability to maintain highest level of customer service
- ability to adapt in a fast-paced retail environment
- strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- flexibility to work varied hours and days
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- knowledge of health department guidelines
- basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
- skills in handling food service equipment
- physical capability to handle lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
- ability to work in varied environmental conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- 1-2 years grocery retail experience in food service department processes and procedures preferred
- experience in natural foods industry a plus
- strong customer service skills
- ability to adapt to high volume retail environment
- good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to multitask and prioritize
- knowledge of health department guidelines and food safety regulations
- basic math skills including weights and measures
- proficiency with food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
- leadership and team support abilities
Job Duties
- Ensure cleanliness of deli/bakery cases, storage area, and work area for safety
- stock deli/bakery cases including product presentation, facing, filling, and organization
- examine rotation of deli/bakery products and discard expired stock
- assist customers with purchases, information, and product selection including selling and cross-selling
- receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy, temperature, and quality
- monitor point of purchase signs and promotional materials
- operate and use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- prepare various deli/bakery items using appropriate ingredients and cooking times
- weigh and label products accurately
- participate in pre-inventory preparation
- maintain high product knowledge and preparation standards
- ensure organized, sanitary, and clean department appearance
- perform other duties as assigned
