The company is well-recognized for its commitment to community give-back initiatives and inclusivity, ensuring equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. The company also actively encourages military applicants to apply, highlighting its inclusive hiring philosophy. Pilot Company operates an extensive energy and logistics division, ranking among the top fuel suppliers with one of the largest tanker fleets that serve critical oil operations in some of the nation’s busiest basins. The company’s diverse portfolio spans retail operations, supply chain management, logistics, technology, construction, maintenance, human resources, finance, sales, and marketing, making it a multifaceted organization with varied expertise and operational reach.
Within this expansive and well-established company, the role of Deli Assistant Manager at Pilot Flying J offers an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within one of the company’s high-volume retail travel centers. The Deli Assistant Manager will take charge of executing business plans tailored to the travel center and restaurant operations to meet set standards, sales goals, profit targets, and customer satisfaction benchmarks. This position requires a hands-on leader who can diligently oversee day-to-day activities, including ensuring that customer expectations are consistently met through superior service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include leading and motivating the deli team by conducting regular meetings and fostering a collaborative work environment, maintaining strong vendor relationships to streamline procurement and inventory management, and supporting staffing initiatives such as interviewing, hiring, and training to build high-performing teams. Additionally, the Deli Assistant Manager will drive sales and profitability through strategic oversight, track inventory tightly to avoid wastage while ensuring product availability, perform profit and loss (P&L) analysis to inform decision-making, and deliver exceptional customer service that reinforces the company’s reputation for quality and reliability. This role demands a flexible schedule to cover nights, days, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position comes with a competitive salary range starting between $41,700 and $60,460 per year. This is an opportunity for a dedicated management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment and is committed to upholding the integrity and operational excellence that define Pilot Company’s brand.
