The Barista position at La Colombe plays a pivotal role in bringing the brand to life within its various café locations across Washington, D.C. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about coffee and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As a Barista, you will be the face of La Colombe to customers, responsible for crafting world-class coffee experiences that delight and satisfy. You will engage warmly with guests, genuinely enjoy making people happy with expertly prepared beverages, and contribute to a positive café atmosphere.
Embodying La Colombe’s One Dove principles—Kindness, Respect, Deliciousness, Efficiency, and Cleanliness—is essential for success in this role. You will be expected to treat customers and teammates with kindness and respect while building rapport with repeat customers by understanding their coffee preferences. Efficiency and quality control in beverage preparation are crucial, ensuring every cup meets the high standards that La Colombe customers expect. Safety and cleanliness will be consistently prioritized to maintain an inviting and hygienic café environment.

Job Qualifications
- People skills
- Basic understanding of computer POS systems
- Knowledge of coffee and espresso preparation preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment preferred
- Ability to communicate positively and professionally
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Warmly welcome customers
- Build relationships with repeat customers
- Take the time to determine customers' coffee needs and interests and offer La Colombe products
- Consistently meet La Colombe product recipes and quality standards
- Serve quality beverages in a timely and engaging manner
- Record and accurately process purchases using the POS system, collect and process payments, apply discounts according to La Colombe standards
- Work with café leadership and technical department to help administer quality control
- Clean coffee grinder, brewer, and espresso machines
- Organize products on shelves and restock as necessary
- Complete opening and closing tasks and checklists
- Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly deep cleans of the café
- Proactively maintain and improve the appearance of the café and coffee bar
- Sanitize and clean the café area as needed throughout the shift
