The role of Food Runner at George's is dynamic and integral to the smooth operation of the restaurant throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner service. As a Food Runner, your primary responsibility is to ensure that food orders are delivered quickly and accurately from the kitchen to guests’ tables. This position requires you to be quick on your feet, both literally and metaphorically, to meet the fast-paced demands of the restaurant. Having a polite and friendly attitude is essential, as the role involves constant interaction with customers and coworkers alike. You will act as a vital communication link between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams, guaranteeing that the service flows seamlessly.
In addition to delivering food, you will assist wait staff with setting tables appropriately, including placing tableware, eating utensils, and napkins, ensuring a pleasant dining experience for guests. Job Duties
- deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
- deliver to-go food orders to curbside vehicles
- act as the contact point between front of the house and back of the house staff
- assist the wait staff with table setting by placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils and napkins
- ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
- inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
