The role of a Day Porter at CCS Facility Services is essential to ensuring that commercial, office, and institutional buildings remain clean, orderly, and welcoming throughout the day. The primary focus of this position is maintaining common areas such as lobbies, stairwells, elevators, and building entrances. Typical tasks involve cleaning and polishing lobby doors, vacuuming elevator cabs, picking up trash around the building exterior, and ensuring restrooms are checked and maintained at least twice daily. The Day Porter also manages trash receptacles, cleans ashtrays and sand urns, sweeps and dust mops lobby floors, and assists building engineers based on management demands.

This role demands attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to building maintenance. Effective communication with management is key, especially for reporting building issues such as lights out or the presence of solicitors. Job Requirements

  • Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Spot clean the lobby glass doors
  • Polish chrome on lobby doors
  • Vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • Inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
  • Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • Check restrooms twice daily
  • Vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • Sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • Remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • Sweep building entrances
  • Clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • Report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the management office
  • Report any solicitors to the management office
  • Police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc., scheduled at high-traffic times each day
  • Empty all trash receptacles
  • Vacuum carpeted floors
  • Dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • Polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • Assist building engineer daily per management discretion
