The Day Porter role at CCS Facility Services is a crucial position responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order within the common areas of office buildings, apartment complexes, and other commercial or institutional properties. This role involves a variety of daily cleaning tasks that help ensure a welcoming, safe, and pristine environment for building occupants and visitors. Responsibilities include spot cleaning glass doors in the lobby, polishing chrome fixtures, vacuuming elevator cabs, cleaning ashtrays, emptying trash receptacles, and inspecting restrooms multiple times a day. Additionally, the Day Porter performs outdoor duties such as picking up trash around the building exterior, sweeping building entrances, and removing debris from landscaped areas. This role requires vigilance and proactive attention to detail, including monitoring lights for outages, reporting solicitors, and keeping high-traffic areas free of litter. The Day Porter contributes not only to the building’s cleanliness but also to occupant safety and building aesthetics. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in janitorial or cleaning roles preferred
  • ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • good punctuality and attendance record
  • ability to work flexible hours if required
  • physical ability to perform cleaning duties
  • reliable and dependable work ethic

Job Duties

  • Spot clean the lobby glass doors
  • polish chrome on lobby doors
  • vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
  • clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • check restrooms twice daily
  • vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • sweep building entrances
  • clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
  • report any solicitors to the Management Office
  • police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc.
  • empty all trash receptacles
  • vacuum carpeted floors
  • dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
