The role of the Day Porter at CCS Facility Services involves being an essential part of the team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas in a variety of commercial and institutional buildings. This role primarily focuses on areas such as lobbies, elevators, stairwells, restrooms, building entrances, and landscaped areas. The Day Porter ensures these areas are spotless, inviting, and well-maintained, contributing directly to the overall customer satisfaction and functionality of the properties managed by CCS.
A Day Porter’s responsibilities include spot-cleaning lobby glass doors, polishing chrome on doors, vacuuming elevator cabs and wiping them down twice daily, inspecting building exteriors for litter, emptying and cleaning trash receptacles, and maintaining sanitary conditions by checking restrooms twice daily. The role also requires sweeping and vacuuming floors and stairwells, dust mopping lobbies twice daily, and polishing various metallic surfaces to maintain a polished appearance. Importantly, the Day Porter assists the building engineer as needed, enhancing operational efficiency and teamwork within the facility management team.
This position requires a proactive attitude in reporting maintenance issues such as burnt-out lights, solicitors within the building, and ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are upheld consistently. The work environment includes exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, outdoor weather, and moderate noise levels, all managed with an emphasis on safety protocols and procedures. Job Duties
- Spot clean the lobby glass doors
- polish chrome on lobby doors
- vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
- inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
- clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
- empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
- check restrooms twice daily
- vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
- sweep stairwells and landings as needed
- remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
- sweep building entrances
- clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
- report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
- report any solicitors to the Management Office
- police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc.
- empty all trash receptacles
- vacuum carpeted floors
- dust mop lobby floors twice daily
- polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
- assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
