The role of a Day Porter at CCS Facility Services involves maintaining the cleanliness, order, and overall upkeep of common areas within office buildings, apartment houses, and other commercial or institutional establishments. This position plays a critical role in creating a welcoming and safe environment for building occupants and visitors by performing a range of janitorial duties. Responsibilities include spot cleaning glass doors, polishing chrome fixtures, vacuuming elevator interiors, inspecting building exteriors for trash, cleaning ashtrays and sand urns on each floor, and maintaining exterior trash receptacles. The day porter also conducts regular restroom checks, sweeps stairwells, removes debris from landscaped areas, and polices high-traffic areas to ensure floors and planters remain free of litter.
Additionally, the day porter supports building management by reporting lighting issues or suspected solicitors and assists the building engineer as needed. Important competencies for success in this role include strong attendance and punctuality, dependability in following management instructions and completing tasks, and a commitment to safety and security protocols. - High school diploma or equivalent
- previous janitorial or custodial experience
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- capability to stand and walk for long periods
- reliable transportation to and from work
- willingness to comply with company safety and security procedures

- ability to work flexible shifts if required
Job Duties
- Spot clean the lobby glass doors
- polish chrome on lobby doors
- vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
- inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
- clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
- empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
- check restrooms twice daily
- vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
- sweep stairwells and landings as needed
- remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
- sweep building entrances
- clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
- report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
- report any solicitors to the Management Office
- police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc. during high-traffic times
- empty all trash receptacles
- vacuum carpeted floors
- dust mop lobby floors twice daily
- polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
- assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
