The role of the Day Porter at CCS Facility Services is an essential position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderly condition of common areas within office buildings, apartment houses, and various commercial or institutional buildings. The position involves performing a variety of custodial duties such as cleaning lobby glass doors, polishing chrome fixtures, vacuuming elevator cabs, and maintaining exterior premises by removing trash and debris. Day Porters play a critical role in ensuring that the building environments are welcoming, hygienic, and safe for occupants and visitors alike. This job requires meticulous attention to detail, a proactive approach to identifying and resolving cleanliness issues, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

In addition to routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping stairwells, emptying trash receptacles, dust mopping floors, and cleaning ashtrays, the Day Porter will also monitor restrooms, report maintenance issues such as burnt-out lights and solicitors, and assist building engineers as needed. Job Duties

  • Spot clean the lobby glass doors
  • polish chrome on lobby doors
  • vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
  • clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • check restrooms twice daily
  • vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • sweep building entrances
  • clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
  • report any solicitors to the Management Office
  • police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc., schedule policing at high-traffic times each day
  • empty all trash receptacles
  • vacuum carpeted floors
  • dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • assist building Engineer daily per Management discretion
