The Day Porter position at Ballantyne Elementary is an essential role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the school environment. This full-time employment opportunity offers a hands-on role that is critical to the smooth day-to-day operations of the school. The Day Porter will be responsible for a variety of custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and waxing floors, as well as shampooing carpets using machines. The role requires attention to detail for cleaning walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures, contributing to the overall hygiene and aesthetics of the facility.
Additional responsibilities include washing interior and exterior windows and glass doors, sweeping entryways, emptying exterior cigarette urns and trashcans, maintaining restrooms by cleaning, plunging sinks and toilets, and replenishing supplies. The Day Porter plays an active role in facility upkeep by changing interior light bulbs that can be reached with a ladder up to six steps, completing work requests to notify management of needed repairs, and performing snow and ice removal with the application of salt or ice-melting products during winter conditions.
This role also involves organizing custodial closets and supporting special events by moving, removing, or setting up furniture, furnishings, supplies, and equipment inside designated rooms as directed by supervisors. The Day Porter position demands a proactive approach and willingness to perform additional job-related duties as required. Successful candidates will possess good interpersonal skills, the ability to work with a diverse group of people, and a willingness to learn and grow within the role. Job Duties
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors
