We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Day Porter to join our team in a K-12 school, college, or university campus environment. This role is ideal for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce who seek a frontline position with on-the-job training and growth potential. As a Day Porter at ABM, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in designated campus areas, which include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways. This position is crucial in ensuring that educational facilities remain safe, sanitary, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. The role involves various cleaning and maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, debris removal, trash management, and the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment following established safety procedures. Additionally, the Day Porter will be tasked with minor repairs reporting, recycling, dusting, and upkeeping both indoor and outdoor campus areas. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No experience required and on the job training provided
  • No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
  • Ability to work in a K-12 school, college or university campus environment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals properly
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks such as sweeping, mopping, lifting, and moving furniture
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Job Qualifications

  • No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No experience required and on the job training provided
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • One year of prior similar work experience preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and cleaning procedures
  • Strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Clean and maintain assigned area including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways
  • Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas
  • Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
  • Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions needed for building systems
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers
  • Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles
