The role of Day Porter Custodian/CSR at SBM Management is an exciting opportunity for hardworking, dependable individuals who thrive in customer-facing roles and enjoy working as part of a team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall upkeep of commercial and institutional buildings, supporting both the aesthetic appeal and functional operations of the properties managed by SBM. The Custodian/CSR is responsible for a wide array of custodial duties such as floor care including vacuuming and mopping, surface care like dusting and sanitizing, waste removal, and light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and restocking supplies. In addition to these essential responsibilities, the role requires a strong commitment to following safety protocols and company policies, using personal protective equipment properly, and presenting a professional demeanor at all times.

Success in this position requires excellent communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and customers. The Custodian/CSR must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions accurately while demonstrating good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Training and mentoring others may also be part of the role, emphasizing the candidate’s ability to demonstrate work processes and support team development.

This full-time position offers competitive hourly compensation ranging from $16.75 to $17.75 per hour, with a set work schedule from Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Job Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Less than high school education or up to one-month related experience or training
  • Ability to read 2-3 syllable words
  • Ability to print clearly
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with 10’s and 100’s
  • Knowledge of American measurement systems
  • Valid driver’s license if driving vehicle on business time
  • Proof of vehicle registration and insurance if driving
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Less than high school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read 2-3 syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers
  • Ability to print clearly and speak simple sentences
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and customers
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Knowledge of American measures of money, weight, size, length, shapes, distance and measures such as cups, pints, quarts, gallons
  • Valid driver’s license if driving own or company vehicle on business time, along with proof of vehicle registration and insurance
  • Bilingual is a plus but not required

Job Duties

  • Floor care including vacuuming, mopping, carpet spotting
  • Surface care including dusting, sanitizing, cleaning glass, mirrors, windows, metal and wood polishing, cleaning blinds and draperies
  • Waste removal including emptying trash and recycle bins, transporting trash and waste to proper disposal areas
  • Light maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and restocking supply cabinet or room
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures, stopping at risk behavior
  • Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
  • Take direction and respond to supervision
  • Use proper personal protective equipment
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct
  • Understand reporting systems and the environment
  • Transport small equipment, tools, chairs, and tables, straighten areas such as lobbies and conference rooms
  • Pick up trash, recycling, and compost bins and transport to proper disposal areas
  • Assist janitorial staff with restocking restrooms and break rooms
  • Perform restroom cleaning, glass cleaning, spot clean upholstered furniture and carpets, and dust open common spaces
