The Day Porter role at CCS Facility Services is an essential position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas within office buildings, apartment houses, or other commercial or institutional facilities. This role requires attention to detail, customer service skills, and a proactive attitude to ensure that the environment is welcoming and well kept for tenants, visitors, and staff. The Day Porter will perform a variety of tasks including cleaning lobbies, elevators, restrooms, stairwells, and outdoor areas, as well as assisting the building engineer as necessary. This position typically involves routine cleaning duties such as spot cleaning glass doors, polishing chrome, vacuuming carpets, emptying trash receptacles, and sweeping entrances. Additionally, the Day Porter will monitor and report any maintenance issues or safety concerns, contributing to the overall upkeep and smooth operation of the facility.

Job Duties

  • Spot clean the lobby glass doors
  • Polish chrome on lobby doors
  • Vacuum elevator cabs and wipe cab doors, walls, and tops twice a day
  • Inspect the building exterior and pick up any trash
  • Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
  • Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
  • Check restrooms twice daily
  • Vacuum lobby once a day or as needed
  • Sweep stairwells and landings as needed
  • Remove all debris from landscaped areas as needed
  • Sweep building entrances
  • Clean and remove smudges and marks on walls, doors, and wall covering
  • Report any lights out (exit, directory boards, etc.) to the Management Office
  • Report any solicitors to the Management Office
  • Police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper, debris, etc., scheduled at high-traffic times each day
  • Empty all trash receptacles
  • Vacuum carpeted floors
  • Dust mop lobby floors twice daily
  • Polish elevator cab railings and doors and main lobby call buttons
  • Assist building engineer daily per Management discretion
