The Day Matron/Porter position is a vital role within the custodial and facility maintenance sector of any organization, ensuring that buildings and their surrounding areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. This role typically exists in a variety of institutions such as educational facilities, office buildings, healthcare centers, and commercial properties. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- moderate physical strength and stamina
- ability to perform manual labor
- experience in cleaning or janitorial work beneficial
- ability to work independently or assist in supervisory capacity
- good communication skills
- willingness to perform routine and occasional cleaning tasks
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior custodial or janitorial experience is advantageous
- ability to operate basic mechanical cleaning equipment
- good physical condition with stamina
- ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a supervisory role
- basic record-keeping skills
- reliable and punctual
Job Duties
- Empty trash containers, ashtrays, and recycle receptacles
- police public areas
- dust mop, sweep, wet mop, spray-buff floors
- vacuum rugs and carpets
- scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restroom supplied with towels, toilet tissue, soap, and other items
- dust and clean walls, doors, windows, woodwork, and other above-floor surfaces
- dust, clean, and polish furniture
- clean elevators and stairwells
- police areas around outside of building
- keep simple records and make simple reports
- notify supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement
- replace accessible light bulbs if required
- perform related work as required and instructed
- vacuum furniture, blinds and drapes
- wash windows
- wash and/or vacuum walls
- wash vents and radiators
- vacuum and wash light fixtures
- wash waste receptacles
- prepare and arrange meeting and conference rooms
