Dancewave is a vibrant and socially conscious dance education nonprofit organization based in Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 1995 by Diane Jacobowitz, Dancewave is committed to providing comprehensive access to a community dance experience that fosters individuality and whole-person development for people of all ages within New York City and beyond. Job Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to work in person at the Dancewave Center including evenings and weekends
- Ability to access email communications remotely outside of in-person work hours
Job Qualifications
- One to two years of customer service experience
- Experience working with youth
- Interest in arts and nonprofit administration
- Passionate about dance education and community engagement
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Open the facility in a timely manner prior to guest arrival
- Clean and maintain event spaces including spot-vacuuming, restocking supplies, and trash removal
- Set up protective carpet tiles, audience seating, dressing rooms, and tables for special events
- Organize children birthday party setups including tables, chairs, and art materials
- Oversee the flow and timing of events ensuring smooth transitions
- Communicate with renters and event staff to support technical rehearsals and event needs
- Act as liaison between party hosts and event staff during birthday parties
