Job Description
FedEx Logistics is a global leader in freight forwarding and logistics solutions, offering a wide array of services that enable businesses to expand their reach across international markets. With expertise in ocean and air freight forwarding, surface transportation, customs brokerage, and trade advisory services, FedEx Logistics provides end-to-end solutions for companies of all sizes looking to navigate the complexities of global shipping. The company is committed to delivering seamless import and export services backed by advanced technology, comprehensive trade facilitation tools, and specialized customer support. As part of the world-renowned FedEx family, FedEx Logistics maintains a strong reputation for reliability, compliance, and superior service standards.
The role of Customs Documentation Specialist at FedEx Logistics focuses on managing and coordinating the documentation required by U.S. Customs and other government agencies to ensure prompt and compliant entry of goods into the United States on behalf of importers. This position plays a critical role in the customs brokerage process, responsible for obtaining accurate classification of goods, processing import documentation, and maintaining meticulous records in line with regulatory requirements. The Customs Documentation Specialist interacts closely with internal teams, external customers, carriers, brokers, and government agencies to provide exceptional service and ensure adherence to all relevant international trade laws and organizational policies.
This is a variable remote opportunity, offering a hybrid working environment with some days working from home and others in the office, based near Tonawanda, NY. The role requires working the shift from Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with mandatory overtime during peak periods and occasional work on company-recognized holidays. FedEx Logistics provides structured training and ongoing support, with an hourly pay range starting around $16.50 to $21.75, typically beginning at $18.15 for external applicants, along with a temporary pay premium during volume surges.
This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in data entry, and the ability to manage high volumes of time-sensitive work independently. The specialist will utilize various customs databases, tariff books, and other reference materials to ensure goods are classified correctly and shipments comply with all government regulations. Communication skills are essential for interfacing with diverse stakeholders, ensuring accuracy in brokerage documentation, and delivering superior customer service. The company also emphasizes equal employment opportunities, supporting veterans and individuals with disabilities, and complies with fair hiring practices including criminal history considerations and wage history bans.
Joining FedEx Logistics as a Customs Documentation Specialist means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to simplifying international trade for customers while upholding federal regulations and corporate standards. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop a career in logistics with a globally recognized organization that values integrity, professionalism, and employee growth.
