Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months work experience
  • Proficient in data entry and keyboarding
  • Experience with MS Office and Outlook
  • Ability to operate office equipment including phone, fax, photocopier, printer, and scanner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage high volume and time-sensitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of customs regulations preferred
  • Willingness to follow organizational and governmental policies
  • Must live within 50 miles of Oakland, CA
  • Ability to work one shift between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Sunday through Saturday with 2 days off

Job Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months work experience
  • Data entry and keyboarding experience
  • CCS and/or broker license preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
  • Familiarity with office equipment such as phone, fax, photocopier, printer, and scanner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to handle high volume and time-sensitive work
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials
  • Skilled in interacting with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate documentation required by US Customs and government agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers
  • Provide impeccable customer service
  • Process commodities requiring specialized processing to reduce risk of liquidated damages and penalties
  • Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from various sources
  • Data entry and processing of import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and participating government agencies
  • Maintain and keep current all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations
  • Work closely with internal staff, departments, other FedEx operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-level service
  • Process agency brokerage shipments
  • Handle remote filings
  • Perform entry reconciliations and reviews as needed
  • Follow up on customs matters and resolve problems
  • Ensure compliance with government and organizational policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in paid training provided
