Job Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to next lower grade for GS-11
- One year of specialized experience at GS-11 level for GS-12
- Education substitution allowed for GS-11 with Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three years graduate education
- No education substitution for GS-12
- U.S. residency for at least three of last five years or qualifying exception
- Successful completion of thorough background investigation
- Disclosure of felony convictions or charges
- One year probationary period for new federal employees
Job Qualifications
- Experience reviewing and deciding complex drawback claims and supporting documents
- Experience performing compliance reviews to establish goods eligibility and verify drawback systems
- Experience making determinations concerning drawback privileges and bond sufficiency
- Experience participating in public outreach and delivering detailed guidance
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
Job Duties
- Reviewing and processing drawback claims and supporting documentation
- Applying customs laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance
- Classifying merchandise and verifying entry requirements, manufacturing, export, and inventory records
- Making independent decisions on complex drawback claims
- Participating in public outreach programs by presenting seminars and providing claimant guidance
