Job Requirements

  • Meet all qualification requirements including education if applicable
  • Have at least one year of specialized experience for the GS-11 or GS-12 grade levels
  • Comply with time-in-grade requirements for current federal employees
  • Successfully undergo a thorough background investigation
  • Fulfill the residency requirement of three years physical presence in the United States or its protectorates
  • Complete a probationary period of one year for new federal employees

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in reviewing and processing drawback claims and relevant documentation
  • Knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements
  • Ability to interpret and apply customs requirements and rates of duty
  • Skilled in classifying merchandise and reviewing entry and manufacturing records
  • Experience conducting compliance reviews to determine eligibility for drawback
  • Able to independently decide on complex drawback claims
  • Experience in public speaking or presenting seminars for outreach purposes

Job Duties

  • Reviewing and processing drawback claims and supporting documentation
  • Applying customs laws, regulations, and procedures and interpreting customs requirements
  • Classifying merchandise, entry requirements, manufacturing records, export documentation, and accounting and inventory records
  • Reviewing and making decisions independently on drawback claims of more than average difficulty
  • Participating in public outreach programs, including presenting seminars and providing guidance to claimants
