Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Coordinate ISF and verify ISF was filed 48-72 hours prior to vessel departure
- review documents for accurate and complete information to ensure timely customs entry
- transmit CHB/PGA entries, verify ABI results, and make corrections if needed
- manage exceptions with involved parties and provide customer service to customers, carriers, vendors, and other DACHSER offices
- manage workload to ensure timely customs clearances
- work with customers to improve processes through automation
- assure local implementation of USA Area Guidelines and standard procedures as outlined in company Compliance Manual
- ensure proper information flow with sales on changes/problems with external customers focusing on customs compliance and operational efficiency
- ensure proper training and education of department staff and provide adequate cross-training
- evaluate staff performance regularly and annually through performance appraisals
- hold regular monthly department meetings
- visit principal customers and accompany sales staff to assist with Importer Compliance Implementation for key customers
- ensure branch meets requirements outlined in Dachser Compliance Manual including permits and licenses, employee reporting, POA management, broker compliance guidelines, general compliance procedures, ABI error rate monitoring
- assist with processing RFQs
- evaluate branch performance regularly using measurement standards and take corrective action
- conduct periodic internal audits and report findings
- assist managers in setting up new import business compliantly
- draft, publish, train, and implement customer SOPs
- oversee and assist management of Outport Brokers
- manage and control customs-related post-entry issues including protests, claims, penalty notices
- maintain continuous improvement processes to increase efficiencies and improve customer performance
- ensure personnel are trained and competent in regulatory matters
- increase competency level of all import personnel
- ensure timely processing of transactions
- measure regulatory compliance through auditing
- handle and manage exception escalations
- act as liaison between management and peers to ensure operational excellence
- handle billing clients and approve vendor invoices
- maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate policies
- ensure CHB file documentation is complete and properly filed
- perform other duties as assigned
