Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • 3 year minimum industry experience
  • customs broker license is preferred
  • previous management experience is preferred
  • extensive knowledge of customs business and CBP and OGA regulatory requirements
  • thorough knowledge and understanding of import process and related systems/applications (ABI, ACS, ACE)
  • ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on CBP compliance topics
  • people management and leadership skills including recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management

Job Duties

  • Coordinate ISF and verify filing 48-72 hours prior to vessel departure
  • review documents for accurate and complete information
  • transmit CHB/PGA entries, verify ABI results and make corrections
  • manage exceptions and provide customer service to customers, carriers, vendors, and other offices
  • manage workload to ensure timely customs clearances
  • work with customers to improve processes through automation
  • assure local implementation of USA Area Guidelines and company Compliance Manual
  • assure proper information flow with sales on changes and problems
  • ensure proper training and cross-training of department staff
  • evaluate staff performance regularly and annually
  • hold regular department meetings
  • visit principle customers and assist with Importer Compliance Implementation
  • ensure branch meets Compliance Manual requirements
  • assist with processing RFQs
  • evaluate branch performance monthly and take corrective action
  • conduct periodic internal audits and report findings
  • assist managers in setting up new import business compliantly
  • draft, publish, train, and implement customer SOPs
  • oversee management of Outport Brokers
  • manage customs-related post-entry issues including protests, claims, penalty notices, and damages
  • maintain continuous improvement processes
  • ensure personnel training and competence
  • measure regulatory compliance and audit transactions
  • handle exception escalations
  • act as liaison between management and peers
  • handle billing clients and vendor invoice approvals
  • maintain knowledge of regulations and ensure compliance
  • ensure proper file documentation
  • perform other duties as assigned
