Job Requirements
- Knowledge of U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- experience with food, beverage, and general commodities
- ability to anticipate problems and liaise with government agencies
- capability to file and follow ISF's
- understanding of FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife, EPA, and other agencies regulations
- follow up with customs and other government agencies to ensure releases
- perform audits to ensure customs formalities are met
- must work onsite
- maintain conformance to ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 systems
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2-3 years customs brokerage experience
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- intermediate to advanced PC skills including MS Office
- highly organized
- professional and courteous demeanor
- flexible and open-minded with adaptability
- good ethical standards
Job Duties
- File entry and entry summaries
- provide HTS to clients and handle ISF filings
- classify imported goods and compile required documentation
- arrange transportation and storage of cleared goods
- use ACE/ABI system for customs processes
- monitor compliance with federal regulations and customs duties
- coordinate with departments to ensure adherence to import operations
- prepare and approve freight paperwork
- maintain knowledge of industry rules and perform customs duties
- uphold professional relationships with transportation agencies and sales
- emphasize customer satisfaction
- maintain shipment files and ensure timely billing
- assist with backup for accounts
- perform other assigned duties
- work onsite and adhere to ISO integrated management systems
