Job Requirements

  • a bachelor’s degree
  • five years of related experience and/or training
  • customs broker license
  • experience with corporate import/export requirements
  • knowledge of international trade laws
  • financial acumen
  • advanced understanding of CFR Title 19
  • knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedules
  • understanding of customs valuation standards
  • knowledge of Customs Modernization Act
  • familiarity with other government agency requirements
  • understanding of Customs automated systems
  • knowledge of international transportation modes
  • strong communication skills in English
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • ability to travel up to 25 percent
  • capability to perform physical demands of the role
  • ability to work in office environment
  • strong organizational and time management skills

Job Qualifications

  • a bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination
  • customs broker license required
  • experience in basic corporate import/export requirements
  • knowledge of international trade laws including classification, valuation, country of origin determination, country of origin marking, and Incoterms
  • financial acumen
  • ability to interact with Customs and Border Protection personnel at all levels
  • advanced understanding of CFR Title 19, Section 111, Subpart C
  • understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedules of the United States and product classification
  • knowledge of customs valuation standards and international terms of sale
  • understanding of Customs Modernization Act content
  • knowledge of other government agency requirements
  • understanding of Customs Automated Commercial Environment and Automated Broker Interface
  • understanding of international ocean, air and cross border transportation
  • familiarity with primary Customs forms

Job Duties

  • prepares post entry work including PSCs, protests and petitions
  • participates in and monitors operating activities and controls to promote compliance
  • operates consistently under U.S. Customs compliance practices
  • adheres to compliance standards for all branch offices
  • interacts with Customs Compliance Manager, CHB managers and branch staff regarding compliance activities
  • assists in training personnel on customs and trade procedures
  • assists with development of SOPs for operations and client support
  • provides recommendations for process improvements
  • communicates with Customs at all levels
  • assists in C-TPAT annual risk assessments and validation
  • assists in maintenance of Compliance Program Policies Manual
  • ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • supports company commitment to operational standards
  • performs other related duties as specified by management
