Job Requirements

  • Licensed customs broker or customs certified specialist preferred
  • Minimum five years experience in logistics or forwarding industry
  • At least three years in a supervisory role
  • Minimum four years’ experience in customs brokerage and understanding of customs regulations
  • Ability to perform essential duties without health or safety risk
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Bilingualism is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures
  • Familiarity with FDA, Fish and Wildlife, and other government agencies
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Cargo Wise and AS400 brokerage platform
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials

Job Duties

  • Oversee import and customshouse broker processes ensuring compliance with US laws and JAS procedures
  • Supervise and train customs and import personnel
  • Manage transactions and interactions with US Customs and Border Protection, ISF, CFS, and other government agencies
  • Educate customers on compliance requirements and provide training resources
  • Guide customers in classification, valuation, preferential trade programs, and post-entry issues
  • Ensure productivity and compliance of subordinates with government and company requirements
  • Supervise ISF filings ensuring 100% compliance
  • Verify timely payment of duties, ACH and PMS statements
  • Act as subject matter expert for Entry Processing sector
  • Collaborate with local dispatch team to oversee freight movement and resolve escalated issues
