Job Requirements

  • Five years' experience in logistics or forwarding industry
  • Minimum of three years' experience in customs brokerage or customs regulations focused role
  • Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Must pass background check for felony convictions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Must comply with federal regulations governing customs brokerage employment

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Food Drug Administration, Fish and Wildlife and other government agencies
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Cargo Wise platform brokerage
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to perform essential duties without posing health or safety risks to self or others
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials

Job Duties

  • Oversee compliance, training, recordkeeping and supervision of customs entry specialist personnel
  • Handle all transactions and interactions with US Customs and Border Protection, Importer Security Filing, Container Freight Station, and other government agencies at local and national levels
  • Educate and train staff to close performance gaps and improve skills
  • Assist and educate customers on compliance requirements and provide resources as needed
  • Guide customers on import concerns including classification, valuation, preferential trade programs, and post-entry work
  • Ensure subordinates' organization, productivity, and compliance with government and company requirements
  • Monitor and supervise Importer Security Filing to ensure 100 percent compliance
  • Manage duty payments, duty statements, ACH and Periodic Monthly Statements timely according to corporate guidelines
  • Serve as subject matter expert for entry processing ensuring team compliance with customer care standards
  • Partner with central dispatch team to oversee freight movement and handle escalated issues
