Job Requirements
- Must be a licensed customs broker (LCB)
- minimum five years experience in logistics or forwarding industry
- at least three years in a supervisory role
- minimum four years experience in customs brokerage and understanding of customs regulations
- bilingual preferred
- bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- able to perform essential duties without posing direct threat to health or safety
- able to work in fast-paced environment
- able to perform physical requirements including sitting, standing, walking, handling, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures
- knowledge of FDA, Fish and Wildlife, and other government agencies regulations
- excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
- strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Cargo Wise platform preferred
- detail oriented and able to multitask and meet deadlines
- self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team
- able to interact positively and effectively with coworkers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials
Job Duties
- Oversee compliance, training, recordkeeping, and supervision of customhouse broker and import personnel
- manage all transactions and interactions with US CBP, ISF, CFS, and other government agencies at local and national levels
- educate and train staff on customs regulations and compliance
- assist and educate customers on US Customs compliance requirements
- provide guidance on import concerns including classification, valuation, trade programs, and post-entry work
- ensure organization, productivity, and compliance of subordinates with government and company standards
- supervise and monitor ISF filings for 100 percent compliance
- ensure timely payment of duties and company outlays following corporate guidelines
- act as subject matter expert for entry processing ensuring compliance with customer care standards
- collaborate with central dispatching team to oversee freight movement and handle escalated issues
