Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, international business, or related field
- Valid U.S. Customs Broker License issued by CBP
- Minimum of 7 years experience in customs clearance
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- In-depth knowledge of North American customs regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex customs processes efficiently
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing customs documentation
- Commitment to ethical standards and regulatory compliance
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, international business, or a related field
- Valid U.S. Customs Broker License issued by CBP
- Deep understanding of customs regulations, clearance procedures, and global trade compliance
- Strong expertise in tariff classification, valuation methods, and rules of origin
- Familiarity with international trade agreements and preferential trade programs
- Minimum of 7 years of customs clearance experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector
Job Duties
- Oversee and lead the customs team to ensure timely, compliant clearance operations
- Manage and mentor a team of supervisors and entry writers
- Set clear goals and provide regular feedback on performance
- Ensure training is up to date with current customs regulations
- Optimize resource allocation to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Foster a high-performance, improvement-focused team culture
- Uphold ethical standards and regulatory compliance across all activities
- Design and manage customs compliance procedures to ensure full regulatory alignment
- Create and maintain detailed internal compliance protocols
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure regulatory adherence
- Monitor changes in customs laws and update procedures accordingly
- Implement risk controls to identify and reduce compliance exposure
- Ensure accurate, timely filing of all customs documentation
- Resolve complex clearance issues and regulatory challenges
- Collaborate with legal counsel on high-level compliance matters
- Manage complex customs clearance processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
- Approve high-level customs documentation and declarations
- Oversee accurate HS code classification and goods valuation
- Manage duty exemptions and special customs regimes
- Align with operations on time-sensitive or high-value shipments
- Maintain and enhance SOPs for customs workflows
- Drive process improvements for greater speed and precision
- Foster strong partnerships with customs authorities, clients, and key stakeholders to support strategic objectives
- Build trusted relationships with customs officials and agencies
- Represent the company in regulatory meetings and negotiations
- Develop client partnerships to align with their compliance needs
- Engage with industry groups and participate in trade forums
- Negotiate favorable terms and resolve complex stakeholder issues
- Provide expert customs guidance to high-value clients
- Track and analyze performance metrics to optimize customs operations and drive ongoing improvement
- Define and implement KPIs to measure operational effectiveness
- Evaluate clearance times, accuracy, and compliance rates
- Identify trends, gaps, and areas for process enhancement
- Generate performance reports for leadership review
- Benchmark against industry standards and best practices
- Launch improvement initiatives based on data insights
- Lead efforts to reduce costs within customs operations
