Job Requirements
- Must be a Licensed Customer Broker (LCB)
- Five years experience in the logistics or forwarding industry
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role
- Minimum of 4 years experience working in customs brokerage with strong understanding of customs regulations
- Bilingual is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Food Drug Administration (FDA), Fish and Wildlife (US F&W) and other government agencies
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Cargo Wise platform (preferred)
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
- Ability to perform duties without posing health or safety threats
- Able to interact effectively with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials
Job Duties
- Oversee compliance, training, recordkeeping, and supervision of all customhouse broker and import personnel
- Responsible for all transactions and interactions with US Customs and Border Protection, Importer Security Filing, Container Freight Station and other government agencies at local and national levels
- Educate and train staff to enhance skills and capabilities
- Assist and educate customers on US Customs compliance requirements, providing necessary resources and training
- Guide customers on import concerns including classification, valuation, preferential trade programs, and post-entry work
- Ensure import team organization, productivity, and compliance with government and company requirements
- Supervise and monitor Importer Security Filings to ensure 100% compliance
- Ensure timely payment of duties and company outlays following corporate guidelines
- Act as subject matter expert for Entry Processing sector ensuring compliance with JAS standards
- Collaborate with central dispatching team to oversee freight movement and handle escalated customer issues
