The Customer Specialist role at CarMax is central to providing this exceptional customer experience. As a Customer Specialist, you serve as a guide and support system for customers throughout every stage of their CarMax journey, whether they are buying or selling vehicles. This position requires a versatile individual who can build rapport quickly, understand diverse customer needs, and handle a variety of responsibilities independently with limited supervision. Essential duties include facilitating vehicle sales, conducting condition assessments to aid customer appraisals, managing administrative tasks related to vehicle transactions, and ensuring all vehicles meet quality standards. The role also involves coordinating with finance companies, managing vehicle inventory processes, creating service appointments, and verifying repair order documentation.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • sales and customer service experience preferred
  • valid Driver’s License
  • basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service by guiding customers through the entire car buying or selling process
  • conduct vehicle condition assessments for appraisals by collecting, recording, and communicating information
  • check in and receive shipped vehicles and complete daily scanning and reconciliation of inventory
  • perform cosmetic inspections ensuring vehicles meet quality standards
  • carry out various administrative tasks including printing reports, maintaining paperwork, managing customer contracts, and auditing paperwork
  • create service appointments and review repair order invoices for accuracy
  • collaborate effectively with teams to ensure a seamless customer experience
