Positioned within CarMax’s Springfield, Missouri location at 3344 E Cherry Street, the Customer Specialist role is an integral part of the retail sales team. This dynamic position invites individuals to engage directly with customers, acting as knowledgeable guides throughout the entirety of their CarMax journey—from vehicle appraisal and test drives to financing and final sales transactions. The Customer Specialist ensures every customer encounter is positive, creating a simple, transparent, and streamlined experience. The Customer Specialist operates in a fast-paced, high-energy environment where teamwork, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities are essential. Beyond sales, this position involves evaluating vehicle conditions, managing inventory processes as vehicles arrive on site, and ensuring all vehicles meet CarMax’s quality standards. Administrative responsibilities are also significant, including managing paperwork related to transactions, coordinating with finance companies, handling registration and titling requirements, and auditing documentation accuracy. Additionally, this role assists in service coordination by creating service appointments and reviewing repair orders to verify billing correctness.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sales and customer service experience preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Exceptional communication skills
- Confidence in self, product and company
- Ability to build and maintain relationships

Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Sales and customer service experience, in an area such as retail, preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel and PowerPoint) preferred

Job Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service by guiding customers every step of the way, from sale or facilitating the appraisal to test drives and arranging financing applications
- Conduct vehicle condition assessments by collecting, recording, and communicating information to Buyers that will be used to perform customer appraisals
- Check in and receive vehicles that are shipped to CarMax
- complete the daily scanning and reconciliation of vehicle inventory
- Perform cosmetic inspections and ensure that all vehicles meet CarMax Quality Standards
- Perform various administrative duties, including, but not limited to: printing daily reports, maintaining transaction paperwork, contacting finance companies regarding Customer contracts, obtaining requirement information regarding registration and/or titling, auditing completed paperwork, cash/payment management
- Create service appointments and review repair order invoices for retail service work performed
- ensure accuracy of documentation for billing
