The role of Customer Service Representative (CSR) at Cubby's is a crucial position dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction and store efficiency. This part-time role operates on a flexible schedule including first/day, second/afternoon, and third/night shifts, reporting directly to the Store Manager. Unlike standard cashier roles, Cubby's CSRs are trained to engage personally with customers, learn their names, provide friendly greetings, and create an inviting atmosphere that fosters repeat business. A successful CSR at Cubby's must be proactive in recognizing customer needs, offering suggestive selling, and showing genuine appreciation for every customer’s patronage.

Beyond direct customer interaction, CSRs play an integral part in maintaining store cleanliness, organization, and presentation. Duties extend to housekeeping tasks such as keeping restrooms spotless and well-stocked, cleaning floors, trash removal, and ensuring the overall appeal of the store and its surroundings. A clean and well-maintained environment is essential to Cubby's brand image and customer retention. This includes tidying the fast food area, coffee and fountain stations, coolers, shelves, merchandise displays, back office, and parking lot.

CSRs also participate in merchandising tasks, such as stocking and pricing merchandise, organizing displays, and managing supplies including lottery tickets and cigarettes. They assist in operating various point-of-sale technologies and machines, ensuring smooth and accurate transactions. Moreover, the role demands a strong sense of professionalism, responsibility, and teamwork, with CSRs expected to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, customers, and vendors.

Job Requirements

  • Must be in physically good shape and able to lift, bend, and stand for up to eight hours
  • Must be able to balance on a step stool or ladder
  • Ability to work in a cooler environment at 32 degrees
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Must maintain proper hygiene and professional appearance while on duty
  • No use of personal cell phones except for emergency calls using store phone

Job Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience is an asset

Job Duties

  • Provide a friendly greeting to customers upon entering the store or on the phone
  • Use customer names and establish rapport to make customers feel valued
  • Provide fast and efficient service to customers
  • Suggestively sell products when appropriate
  • Thank customers for their business and invite them back
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms including floors, toilets, sinks, mirrors, walls, and ceilings
  • Stock soap, towels, and toilet paper
  • Empty and clean trash cans, ensuring bags are tucked out of sight
  • Clean doors, windows, floors, coolers, rugs, transaction counters, shelves, fast food area, back office, and coffee/fountain areas
  • Sweep and clean outside parking lot, entrance sidewalks, fuel islands, and car wash area
  • Merchandise stock, front, and face all products and displays
  • Check and stock lottery supplies and cigarettes
  • Operate POS, lottery, phone card, and money order machines
  • Attend store meetings
  • Check in vendors and gas deliveries
  • Move and build displays
