The associate is responsible for handling sales transactions accurately on assigned cash registers while engaging customers with warm greetings and proactive assistance. This frontline position demands an individual who can recommend products effectively, resolve customer questions or concerns, and ensure compliance with company policies and local laws, including regulations on age-restricted products like tobacco and alcohol. Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, managing inventory, constructing displays for promotions or seasonal items, and supporting photo services are all part of the daily operations that this role covers. Additionally, the position requires fulfilling responsibilities related to web order pickups by managing and preparing orders in Walgreens digital systems. The associate is also expected to model customer service best practices by demonstrating courteous behavior such as eye contact, polite communication, and proactive assistance. Working hands-on with store systems and equipment while maintaining asset protection and loss prevention procedures are essential to preserving the integrity and profitability of the store. On the operational side, this role requires helping with merchandising, stock rotation following safety standards, and cooperating with managers and coworkers to sustain an orderly shopping environment. Training and development are a consistent focus, with attendance at required training sessions and completion of assigned personal and professional learning modules. Flexible scheduling including availability for evening and weekend shifts is important for this position to meet the store's customer service demands. Walgreens prefers candidates who have some prior retail experience and those who have previously worked with Walgreens are favored. Fluency in English is needed for communication, except in Puerto Rico where this requirement may differ.
