Job Description

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, commonly referred to as the Exchange, is the premier retailer serving US Army and Air Force installations worldwide. With an impressive $8 billion enterprise ranking among the top retailers, the Exchange operates department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and an internet shopping platform to cater to Soldiers, Airmen, and their families. Its reach extends beyond the continental United States to bases in Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, and even operational zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. The Exchange's mission is to ensure that members of the military community have convenient access to essential goods and services wherever they serve, thereby supporting their quality of life and well-being.

Working at the Exchange means becoming a vital part of a trusted institution that values customer service and employee development equally. This commitment is demonstrated through a supportive work environment focused on growth and mutual success. The Exchange places its people first by providing tools and resources needed for professional advancement and job satisfaction. Employees benefit from working with a diverse, dedicated team that is passionate about serving those who serve.

As a Customer Experience Associate at the Express, you will play an essential role in delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining efficient and well-stocked retail operations. Your core responsibility will be to assist customers in finding products that meet their needs and to provide insightful recommendations based on the latest trends. Strong product knowledge and a customer-first mindset will enable you to create an extraordinary shopping experience for every visitor.

This role requires prioritizing customer interaction over routine tasks, ensuring that every customer feels welcomed and valued. You will manage multiple self-checkout registers and support regular checkout stations as needed, maintaining accuracy and efficiency during transactions. Attention to detail is critical as you will also be responsible for maintaining merchandise displays, signage, and labels to keep the sales floor attractive and organized.

The Express facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including during inclement weather, demonstrating the commitment to being available whenever customers need. Flexibility with scheduling, including weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays, is necessary. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are eager to develop their skills in retail operations.

In return for your dedication, the Exchange offers an attractive compensation package with a salary range of $15.00 to $20.20 per hour and a variety of benefits. These include comprehensive medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off; shift differential and holiday pay; and both traditional pension and 401K plans for qualifying associates. Employees also enjoy access to base facilities, a Mass Transit program, and the prestige of being part of the Department of Defense workforce.

Joining the Exchange as a Customer Experience Associate is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to be part of a meaningful mission while building a rewarding career. You will be supported by a committed team that values your growth and success, making every day an opportunity to contribute to an exceptional customer experience and support the military community.
