The role of Facilities Maintenance Technician at Thule’s Seymour, Connecticut location offers a critical opportunity to contribute directly to the operational excellence of a globally respected outdoor company. This position is a permanent role, starting with a temporary contract, and is designed for a motivated individual who thrives in a hands-on environment focusing on building maintenance, safety, and security.

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing minor repairs and general maintenance tasks including painting, drywall, minor electrical repairs, light carpentry, and replacing filters and lighting. Safety is a paramount priority during all activities. The role also encompasses janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, and more specialized floor care like waxing, stripping, and buffing, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all building occupants.

Your vigilance in responding to spills or accidents contributes to maintaining a safe workplace. Additional responsibilities include arranging furniture and equipment for meetings or events, assisting with outdoor tasks such as litter cleanup, snow shoveling, and walkway cleaning, along with monitoring the premises for safety and security issues to be reported promptly to the Facilities Manager.

Preventative maintenance is a key component of this role, involving periodic building checks and tasks using PM software systems. Flexibility is required, as the position may occasionally involve working between Thule locations in Seymour and Milford based on project needs. Job Requirements

  • High school education or GED equivalent
  • Ability to perform significant physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting or moving heavy objects up to 75 pounds
  • Strong communication skills needed to coordinate with supervisors, staff, and building occupants
  • Ability to understand and follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals, operating equipment, and disposing of hazardous materials
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or GED equivalent
  • Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift, floor machine and other specialized equipment a plus but training will be provided
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, staff, and building occupants
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Ability to understand and follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals, operating equipment, and disposing of hazardous materials

Job Duties

  • Perform minor repairs and general maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall, minor electrical issues, light carpentry, minor machine repair, replacing lights or filters prioritizing safety first
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors, including specialized tasks such as waxing, stripping and buffing
  • Respond promptly to spills or other accidents to ensure the safety of building occupants
  • Arrange or move furniture and equipment for meetings, events, or other functions
  • Assist with outdoor tasks including litter cleanup, snow shoveling and walkway cleaning
  • Monitor buildings and grounds for safety and security issues and promptly report them to Facilities Manager
  • Perform periodic building preventative maintenance tasks as required in PM software system
