The custodian is responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of school buildings and assigned areas to ensure safety and cleanliness. The position requires checking and securing facilities, performing a broad range of janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, cleaning carpets and upholstery, washing walls and windows, and attending to general upkeep tasks like replacing light bulbs and removing graffiti. Aside from indoor responsibilities, the custodian also manages external grounds-keeping tasks including clearing snow and debris, applying ice melting chemicals, and maintaining outdoor safety.

Moreover, custodians support operational setup and breakdown of rooms, assist in deliveries and material distribution, and participate in waste management including recycling.
