Job Description

The City of Little Rock, known for its commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusiveness, stands as a beacon of community-oriented governance and employment. With an emphasis on equal employment opportunities (EEO), the city ensures that all employees and applicants receive fair consideration without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, or veteran status, complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This environment fosters a respectful and supportive workplace that values the contributions of every individual across its various departments and services.

The City of Little Rock is currently seeking a dedicated Custodian for its Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) facilities. This role is critical in maintaining cleanliness and a welcoming atmosphere in the spaces that host numerous city events and visitors each year. The position is designated as Safety-Sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, highlighting its importance in upholding health and safety standards. Moreover, the role is categorized as Essential Personnel under the LRCVB Inclement Weather Policy, underscoring its significance in uninterrupted facility operations regardless of weather conditions.

The Custodian will be entrusted with the routine custodial and housekeeping duties required to keep the LRCVB facilities in excellent condition. This includes ensuring all public and private areas within the venue are clean, organized, and safely maintained to provide a positive experience for visitors, employees, and event attendees. The job entails meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to prevent hazards. Given the nature of events and the operational hours of the facilities, the Custodian must be flexible, willing to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as necessary.

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of one year experience in custodial work, ideally within similar environments such as office buildings and meeting facilities. However, the City recognizes that a combination of education and experience may also meet the qualification criteria. This flexibility invites candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply while ensuring the role is filled with qualified individuals who can uphold the city's standards.

The hiring process includes pre-employment screenings, which may involve drug and alcohol testing or background checks, ensuring that all personnel contributing to city services maintain professionalism and reliability. The City of Little Rock maintains transparency in application handling, with all communications sent via text message or email to keep applicants informed of their status throughout the selection process.

This custodial position offers a stable career within a well-respected public institution dedicated not only to the operational success of its facilities but also to fostering a safe and pleasant environment for its employees and the public. By joining the LRCVB team, custodians become essential contributors to the city's mission of promoting tourism and community engagement through exemplary facility upkeep and service.
