Job Description
The hiring organization is located in Mariposa, California, a scenic gateway town close to the stunning Yosemite National Park. This establishment operates within the healthcare sector, maintaining facilities and patient care areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. As an entity, it is committed to providing safe, orderly, and sanitary conditions across its district facilities, with particular emphasis on infection control and patient safety. The department currently seeking new personnel is Housekeeping, which plays a critical role in supporting the health environment through effective cleaning and maintenance strategies. There are two openings for the role of Custodian, also referred to as Environmental Service Worker, a position that combines routine cleaning duties with specialized tasks requiring familiarity with various cleaning equipment and solutions.
The Custodian position is a full-time role involving the careful maintenance of patient rooms, exam areas, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces within the healthcare facilities. Working under general supervision, custodians perform a diverse array of cleaning and sanitation tasks to ensure that the environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, staff, and visitors alike. This role is integral not only to upholding infection control protocols but also to enhancing the overall quality of care that patients receive by providing hygienically maintained surroundings.
Individuals in the Custodian role will execute duties ranging from vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors to the detailed cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, fixtures, and equipment. They are responsible for replenishing essential materials such as paper products, soap, and hand sanitizer throughout assigned areas to ensure these resources are always available and meet health and safety standards. Additionally, custodians will handle the cleaning of patient transport equipment, such as gurneys and wheelchairs, and launder resident items when other support is unavailable. Maintaining inventory and supply rooms is also a key responsibility, enabling the housekeeping department to function efficiently without interruptions.
This role demands an individual who is knowledgeable about and compliant with infection control policies, health and safety regulations, and patient confidentiality standards. The work requires appropriate body mechanics and safe lifting techniques to prevent injury, emphasizing the physical aspect of the job. Effective communication skills are important as the Custodian will interact regularly and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff members.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts within the department, further ensuring that institutional standards are met and exceeded. Those hired can expect a supportive work environment focused on maintaining the health and wellness of both employees and patients. This role not only facilitates a clean and safe healthcare setting but also supports the broader mission of the healthcare establishment to deliver compassionate and effective medical care in the beautiful and culturally vibrant region of Mariposa, California.
