The position offers a set pay rate of $19.78 per hour with working hours from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, providing stability and consistency in scheduling.
The Custodian is responsible for a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties to comply with the agency’s policies and contract specifications. This role requires a hardworking individual who can perform various sanitation tasks, such as disinfecting restrooms, cleaning glass surfaces, vacuuming carpets, and handling trash and recycling. Additional duties include floor maintenance, restocking supplies, and supporting special events through setup and takedown services. Physical stamina is important, as the role often involves standing, walking for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in different conditions including dusty environments or adverse weather.
Being designated as essential personnel means the Custodian must be prepared to respond in institutional emergencies, maintaining operations under challenging circumstances. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Six months of custodial work experience preferred
- Custodial training desired
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods
- Ability to go up and down stairs
- Ability to reach above head, bend, kneel, and stoop
- Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to work in dusty spaces or adverse weather conditions
- Ability to see details on floors and surfaces
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision
- Ability to follow directions and focus on tasks
- Ability to report problems
- Ability to work safely and comply with safety and environmental procedures
- Ability to use and care for equipment and cleaning supplies properly

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Comply with all Agency policies and procedures and follow contract specifications
- Comply with uniform dress code and personal hygiene standards
- Clean all assigned areas in accordance with the contract specifications
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and washable surfaces in public areas
- Descale showers, toilet bowls, and urinals
- Keep restrooms supplied with required paper products and soap
- Perform routine glass and mirror cleaning
- Scrub tile and wash walls
- Vacuum area rugs and carpets
- sweep and mop floors
- Pull trash and recycling and place in proper receptacles
- Dust various surfaces, polish furniture and metal, clean glass tabletops
- Clean and disinfect kitchenettes and break rooms
- Clean and disinfect fitness centers, health centers, and child care centers
- Clean walls, partitions, window blinds, and window sills as required by contract
- Clean corners, crevices, moldings, ledges, door jams, metal strips, and overhead surfaces
- Clean elevators, escalators, and stairwells
- Clean and police building exteriors, garages, and janitor closets
- Keep tools and supplies clean and orderly
- Empty and clean any public ashtrays and urns
- Spot clean, service restrooms, and police trash
- Perform or assist with special restoration work, as required
- Move, arrange, and lift heavy items
- Perform emergency cleaning
