The current opening is for a Housekeeper position at Georgia Tech. This role involves performing routine and standardized housekeeping services within assigned buildings or areas on campus. The job is crucial to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for building occupants, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include emptying trash receptacles, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting restrooms, and maintaining medical and food service areas, alongside mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming floors. Additionally, the position requires operating and maintaining various power cleaning equipment, efficiently managing housekeeping closets and supplies, and responding promptly to service requests.
The Housekeeper at Georgia Tech plays an important part in preserving the health and safety standards of the campus community by following prescribed safety protocols, using chemicals and cleaning supplies responsibly, and ensuring that the workspaces are orderly and hygienic. This role typically works alongside other custodial staff such as Quality Control Inspectors and Supervisors, emphasizing teamwork and communication. Shift times are Monday through Friday from 5:55 am to 2:25 pm, located in Atlanta, GA. This position is classified under Job Grade C1 with a salary rate starting at $17.40 per hour. - basic skills in delivery of housekeeping services including operation of cleaning equipment and use of cleaning supplies
Job Duties
- provide housekeeping services within assigned area, emptying of trash receptacles, dusting, spot cleaning, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, medical and food service care, restocking supplies, mopping, sweeping and vacuuming
- operate and maintain power equipment including carpet vacuums, canister and tank vacuums, wide-area vacuums, backpack vacuums, spot cleaning machines and other powered equipment
- maintain housekeeping and storage closets, tools and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- utilize prescribed safety equipment as required
- utilize chemicals and supplies in a safe and prescribed manner
- respond to work requests from building occupants and service request system
- perform other duties as assigned
