The job requires physical stamina since the role involves frequent standing, sitting, bending, lifting heavy loads (up to 45 pounds or more), climbing stairs and ladders, and working in varying environmental conditions—including exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemicals. Candidates must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions related to cleaning, maintenance, and safety. No previous experience or formal education is required but basic knowledge of minor repairs and familiarity with various cleaning equipment and supplies are essential.

Job Duties
- Maintain a cleaning schedule including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
- keep school buildings and grounds neat and clean including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas
- comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash
- assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and request additional supplies as needed
- assist with lunchroom set up including arranging tables and chairs
- perform preventive maintenance and make minor building repairs and report major repairs
- regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure appropriate temperatures and economical usage
- move furniture or equipment as directed
