Job Description
Nellis Air Force Base (AFB), situated in Nevada, hosts a vibrant Golf Course facility that contributes to the morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force community. This establishment employs Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) personnel to support its daily operations, focusing on providing high-quality recreational services to military members, their families, and authorized personnel. As a government entity, Nellis AFB emphasizes efficiency, dedication, and service commitment to support the values of the American republic and uphold the United States Constitution.
The Golf Course at Nellis AFB offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to work in a flexible, intermittent role. The position available is categorized under the NA 1 pay scale and is a permanent appointment type with no supervisory responsibilities. It does not include benefits but provides a meaningful way to contribute to the community by maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all patrons. This role is specifically designed for individuals who can adapt to fluctuating work hours, with the chance to work up to 40 hours per week without guaranteed minimum hours.
The primary function of this role involves custodial responsibilities critical to maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Golf Course facilities and associated offices, storerooms, corridors, stairways, and restrooms. The position requires the employee to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods, highlighting the physical nature of the job. Effective custodial service is essential in ensuring the health, safety, and satisfaction of all visitors and staff.
In this role, you will use a variety of equipment such as brooms, lightweight vacuum cleaners, mops, and floor scrubbers to sweep, dry mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors. Dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, cleaning windows and walls, and maintaining sanitary conditions in restrooms form part of your daily duties. You will also manage the stock of cleaning materials and report to supervisors when supplies run low or equipment requires maintenance.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or legally owe allegiance to the United States, with three or more consecutive years of residency in U.S. territories immediately preceding the federal affiliation. This role requires candidates to pass a background investigation, satisfy employment verification processes, and provide authorized identification for access to the installation. The position does not require a security clearance and is open to the public with certain preference and eligibility categories recognized during the selection process.
The Golf Course custodial position demands an individual who is detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of performing repetitive physical tasks with consistent quality. It is an excellent opportunity for those seeking a meaningful government role within a structured environment that supports military personnel's quality of life. Pay ranges from $17 to $19.84 per hour, based on the NA 1 pay scale without promotion potential but with the security of a permanent intermittent appointment.
Overall, this position is geared towards individuals wishing to contribute their skills in custodial maintenance within a federally governed recreational setting, emphasizing flexibility and commitment to the standards and values of the Air Force and Space Force community.
