The Custodial Technician role at SNHU is a critical on-site position based in the Manchester, NH office location. This role operates on the 3rd shift, with available schedules from Monday through Saturday, 6 PM to 2:30 AM EST, designed to maintain cleanliness and safety during off-peak hours. Reporting directly to the Custodial Services Lead, this position ensures that the learning environment remains safe, hygienic, and visually appealing for students, faculty, visitors, and staff. The Custodial Technician plays an essential part in infection prevention, environmental hygiene, and overall facility upkeep, thereby contributing directly to the positive student experience.
The responsibilities include thorough daily cleaning, disinfection, and deep cleaning of specific student areas and communal spaces, using approved cleaning methods and safety protocols. Custodial Technicians must demonstrate a good understanding of organizational standards related to cleaning chemicals, equipment handling, and labor-saving products. Compliance with the university’s safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines is mandatory, emphasizing the role’s importance in promoting a culture of safety throughout the campus.
Additional duties involve managing supplies and cleaning carts efficiently, disposing of waste according to proper streams, using personal protective equipment correctly, and respecting student privacy laws such as FERPA. Technicians may also be tasked with specialty assignments like setting up conference rooms, cleaning stairwells and elevators, or assisting with onboarding new custodial staff.

Job Requirements
- 6 months of cleaning, housekeeping, or custodial experience
- Ability to read and write in English
Job Qualifications
- Experience in custodial, cleaning, or housekeeping roles
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting protocols
- Ability to follow safety and infection control guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication skills for interaction with students and staff
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely

- Basic computer or mobile device proficiency
Job Duties
- Responsible for the daily, vacant, and deep cleaning and disinfection of student areas, equipment as assigned and other common areas of assignment
- Perform responsibilities while demonstrating working knowledge of the organizational cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the environment for which tasked with servicing
- Follow all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines while promoting a culture of safety
- Participate in departmental performance improvement programs, to help us improve student experience and cleanliness metrics
- Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment evidence by stocking and restocking housekeeping services cart in a neat and orderly fashion
- Remove waste and transport to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams handling (i.e., regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous)
- Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE))
- Recognize and follow student privacy requirements (FERPA)
- Use appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved
- Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements
- Operate and maintain all housekeeping tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment
- May be asked to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of window/shower curtains
- May be asked to assist us with onboarding of new Level I technicians
- Use computers or mobile devices for daily job performance activities
- Other responsibilities as assigned
