Job Duties
- Train staff by showing them how to perform each task
- work side-by-side to evaluate learning and comprehension of tasks
- assign work and oversee culinary staff
- coach and counsel culinary staff to hotel standards
- attend meetings to promote communication between front of the house and kitchen
- ensure a safe working environment paying particular attention to safety hazards
- write and administer kitchen staff evaluations
- make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, advancement, or promotion of associates
- control profit and loss elements and manage department finances
- cost out printed and specialty menus timely
- plan cooking times for smooth execution of front of the house events
- assist in menu creation and implementation
- schedule staff according to business demands
- proactively engage with guests and associates
- enforce local health department sanitation laws
- maintain ServSafe certification
- have knowledge of OSHA and kitchen safety standards
- check food purchases for proper ordering, storage, quality, and price
