Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Minimum five years experience as a cook with emphasis in Japanese cuisine at a 4-star hotel or restaurant or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Food handling or food sanitation certificate desired
  • Certification in culinary training or apprenticeship preferred
  • Ability to arrive on time and ready to work
  • Ability to transport up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to endure prolonged periods standing and physical movements
  • Ability to reach up to 5 feet
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to maintain positive guest relations

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced culinary skills including knife techniques and sauce preparation
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about safety, sanitation, and proper food handling
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining kitchen equipment

Job Duties

  • Maintain knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
  • Maintain and use kitchen equipment correctly
  • Maintain positive guest relations and assist in resolving guest complaints
  • Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas
  • Assign tasks and set priorities for kitchen staff
  • Review daily specials and coordinate with Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef
  • Conduct inventory and requisition supplies
  • Communicate effectively with staff about assignments and changes
  • Oversee proper food storage and handling
  • Assist in menu development and recipe testing
  • Monitor food and labor costs to maintain budget
  • Supervise kitchen staff including scheduling and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Conduct staff performance appraisals and handle disciplinary actions
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout shifts
  • Assist in banquet and catering menu planning
  • Perform all other assigned duties
