Job Description
Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is the largest provider of behavioral health services in Western Massachusetts and has garnered notable recognition, including being named the 10th best employer in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe. It is also proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work. Established in 1938, BHN has consistently demonstrated a commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable, and culturally responsive behavioral health services to a diverse population across the region. The organization supports its employees with compassion and respect, mirroring the care extended to the individuals and families served. This creates a collaborative and mission-driven environment where professional growth and positive impact are highly valued.
BHN is currently seeking a dedicated Culinary Line Cook to join their Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program. This position is integral to providing nutritious and appealing meals that support the well-being and recovery of individuals within the program. The culinary line cook will be responsible for preparing food according to approved menus and recipes, ensuring portion control, and maintaining food quality, temperature, and presentation at all times. Timeliness is crucial in this fast-paced role, as the cook will support the production and service of all scheduled meals.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a high-volume culinary setting, preferably within SUD, long-term care, or healthcare environments, though this is not a strict requirement. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and a strong commitment to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. The culinary line cook will perform various kitchen operations such as assisting with prep, cooking, and service; supporting proper storage, labeling, and inventory rotations; and handling the receipt and storage of deliveries. Maintaining a clean and organized workstation, fulfilling cleaning and closing procedures, and complying with inspection and regulatory requirements are essential aspects of the position.
BHN offers a competitive pay rate of $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement match, generous paid time off and holidays, mileage reimbursement for community-based travel, as well as ongoing training, supervision, and professional development opportunities. They prioritize internal career advancement, with one in three positions filled by current employees, emphasizing the organization's dedication to growth and sustainability for their staff. If you are passionate about being part of a supportive, high-impact environment and wish to contribute to meaningful behavioral health services, this position offers an excellent opportunity to make a difference while advancing your culinary career.
