The role of Kitchen Leader at The Range Cafe is pivotal to maintaining the standards of culinary excellence and guest satisfaction the restaurant is known for. As a Kitchen Leader, you will be entrusted with overseeing all kitchen operations, including food purchasing, preparation, maintaining quality standards, and enforcing sanitation and cleanliness practices. This is an exempt full-time salaried position with a minimum 50-hour workweek, reflecting the leadership and responsibility required. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum 5 years experience in varied kitchen positions
- at least 6 months experience in a similar leadership role
- ability to communicate clearly in predominant guest languages
- basic computer skills
- physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds
- ability to stand for up to 9 hours
- ability to multitask and work under pressure
- willingness to work minimum 50 hour weeks
- strong sense of urgency
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- formal culinary education preferred but not required
- minimum 5 years experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook, and expediter
- at least 6 months experience in a similar leadership capacity
- working knowledge of predominant guest languages
- ability to communicate clearly with management, team members, and guests

Job Duties
- Directly responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation, and maintenance of quality standards
- implement and enforce sanitation and cleanliness practices
- ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to set specifications
- make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining culinary personnel
- oversee and ensure that company policies are followed, providing fair and consistent discipline
- fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations
- monitor all food production and adjust quantities as business needs fluctuate
- ensure consistency and quality during peak service times by working on the expediting line
- prepare all required paperwork including forms, reports, and schedules promptly
- ensure that all equipment is cleaned and maintained in excellent working condition
- order products according to predetermined specifications and oversee deliveries
- control food cost and usage by following proper purchasing and waste control procedures
- schedule labor according to business needs and monitor labor costs
- administer corrective actions promptly and fairly
- train kitchen personnel in safe equipment operation and sanitation
- maintain cleaning schedules for kitchen and storage areas
- check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperatures
- perform shift line checks to ensure consistency, proper stock, seasoning, portioning, and sanitation
- taste products regularly to ensure proper flavor profiles
- provide assistance, guidance, and support to the team
- complete monthly inventories accurately and on time
- keep recipes current and enforce recipe policy
- communicate openly with management and attend scheduled meetings
