The resort is currently seeking culinary externs to join its esteemed culinary team and gain hands-on experience in a highly respected environment. This paid externship is designed for individuals enrolled in an accredited culinary program and is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience under the mentorship of the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, and other culinary leaders. Externs will have the unique opportunity to rotate through various dining outlets within the resort, gaining valuable exposure to diverse, high-end culinary operations. The role emphasizes mastering a wide array of cooking techniques, upholding the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation, and actively contributing to exceptional guest experiences.

Externs at Hyatt Regency Hill Country will engage deeply in food preparation, managing station maintenance, adhering to stringent food safety and quality guidelines, collaborating effectively with kitchen staff, and ensuring equipment cleanliness and organization. The resort fosters continuous learning and professional development, encouraging externs to expand their skills and knowledge while navigating a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends and holidays, is essential to meet the demands of the resort's diverse culinary operations. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in assigned stations
  • follow standardized recipes and ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation
  • keep workstations organized, sanitized, and stocked with necessary ingredients
  • ensure timely completion of mise en place, food prep, and set-up for service
  • follow strict food safety guidelines and maintain ServSafe, EcoSure, and health department standards
  • properly store, rotate, and label food items to ensure freshness and safety
  • work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to support day-to-day operations
  • communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth service flow
  • monitor the quality and appearance of plated and buffet items
  • alert supervisors to any potential quality issues
  • clean and sanitize work areas and equipment before, during, and after shifts
  • ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are maintained and properly stored
  • participate in the training and learning process, with the opportunity to rotate through different culinary outlets and expand skill sets
