The Township Senior Living in Battlefield, Missouri, is currently seeking a dedicated Culinary Director to join their team on a full-time basis. This role offers a competitive salary range from $72,800 to $80,000 annually with additional performance-based bonuses up to $4,000. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with one Sunday per month for brunch service. The Culinary Director will oversee the entire culinary department, ensuring a five-star dining experience that meets the highest standards of quality and presentation for residents.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader skilled in managing both front and back-of-house operations. Responsibilities include meticulous food preparation, menu development tailored to residents' preferences and nutritional needs, and effective portion control to minimize waste. This role requires creativity in crafting seasonal and staple menus featuring fresh ingredients, as well as a passion for delivering exceptional service that enhances the daily lives of seniors residing at The Township Senior Living.

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Preferably three years of experience in senior housing or related field
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
  • Ability to frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working near extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Willingness to work primarily indoors with occasional outdoor events
  • Good physical health verified by recent health screening
  • Freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis as required
  • Criminal background clearance
  • Comfortable with food preparation and kitchen management tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent full-time supervisory or management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, training, and supervisory skills
  • Proficient in written and oral communication with management and staff
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in senior housing or related field preferred
  • Ability to create and modify documents and manage emails
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and portion control practices

Job Duties

  • Oversee culinary department to provide consistent, exceptional five-star service in both front and back of house
  • Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and deliver an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Develop menus based on resident preferences and needs using fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Lead and train culinary staff to maintain high standards of food quality and service
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to optimize kitchen operations
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with management and support staff to enhance resident satisfaction
